The most challenging part is probably getting a good balance between the engineering and the medicine. Prosthetics are part of the biomedical section of engineering, it’s bridging the gap between medicine and engineering. There are some solutions to problems that I come up with that are great engineering solutions to the problem, but they might be too complicated or expensive or just not that beneficial in the medical environment. Then on the other hand, the medical solutions that would be just right, might not work in terms of engineering. Either it might not be possible or it’s just far too complex.
Sometimes it can be very difficult to find a solution that keeps everyone happy: both the doctors and clinicians and the engineers.
