Hi I’m Josh, I grew up in Cambridge then when I left school I went to live in Guyana in the Amazon for a year teaching in a primary school. Right now I’m a student in Glasgow living with three of my friends (No parents, no rules, lots of dirty plates).

I’m a student studying Product Design Engineering. My time is split between the University of Glasgow And the Glasgow School of Art. At the University I do most of the same things all engineering students do. I learn about everything from why buildings don’t fall down to how to programme robots so they can learn on their own. While I’m at the Art School I learn about how people use things and how to design for their needs. I also spend lots of time making and testing things.

My Typical Day: My days are all fairly varied, some days I have classes some days in the lab and some days at Art school making things.

While I’m at University My day will be a mixture of lectures, working in labs and doing home work (yeah I still get home work at 22). Lectures are much like classes at school but with between 30 and 150 people and the labs are experiments to help learn concepts from lectures. At the Art School I normally have a project to work on over a number of weeks designing something to solve a problem. I’ve done a project helping people who are scared of the dentist, one sending things into space and getting them back in one piece amongst other things.
