Hi, my name is Lauren.
I am 24 years old, and I live in the North West of England (about 30 mins from Manchester). I live in my own house with my Boxer dog Keira (she’s mad!!). We like going for day trips out to the seaside and most of the time chasing some form of ball.
I originally left sixth form with the intention of going to Manchester University to study Geography but turned out I didn’t really like uni so I dropped out and got a job as a CAD Draughtsman doing technical drawings for a local engineering firm. Five years later, after completing my degree whilst working, I have just been offered a job at another company as their Technical and Quality Manager. I am a big advocate for Apprenticeships and “Learning while you are earning”.

8:30-9.00 – Arrive at work and check my emails. A customer from Hong Kong had emailed me in the night asking for connections to be moved on a cylinder so I made these changes and sent a revised drawing back to him for approval.
9:00-9:30 – Production Meeting. I sit with the production team and transport department to go over what needs to be done today and what equipment is to be delivered.
9:30-10:30 – I am currently working on a 24,000 litre tank for GlaxoSmithKline, some sub-assembly drawings needed to be submitted to the client. I also gathered material certificates for the material which had already been delivered.
10:30-12:00 – Meeting with a new supplier of valves, to discuss our requirements along with prices.
LUNCH!!!
12:30 – 1:00 – I am also working on designs with a consultant in Doha, they are 3 hours ahead so I need to contact him before he leaves the office for the day. I ring him to check the temperatures that are required for the top floor swimming pool as this will affect the size of our heat exchangers.
