• Question: How do we get energy from the sun

      Well, it arrives in the form of photons, or electromagnetic radiation, depending on your preferred side of wave/particle duality. And almost all of it is converted into heat as it hits some inert matter on the sunny side of the Earth. Some of it falls on solar panels and generates electricity (by energising electrons) and some of it (quite a lot of it really) falls on green vegetation and is converted into stored chemical energy by plants.

      Hi Harry, Mark’s answer is brilliant on this one.. you can also use giant mirrors to focus the suns thermal energy onto a working fluid to generate power. You need a really sunny wide open space (like a desert) for this one though!
