• Question: is it possible for the world to go completely dark????

      Interesting; the answer is yes, the question is whether or not there would be anyone alive on the earth at the time. There’s no way that the sun could be extinguished without destroying the Earth in the process. However, if a big enough object passed between the earth and the sun then maybe it would be very dark. Let’s say in a freak collision Jupiter is knocked out of orbit and passes exactly between the earth and the sun, during a new moon; then the only light hitting earth would be starlight and some reflections off planets and satellites. Then of course you’d have to go round all the light-switches and unplug all the ovens and microwaves.

      …I guess it would be possible if everyone in the world closed their eyes at the same time 🙂
