I did a course called Engineering Science, which covered all aspects of engineering, including:
aeronautical
mechanical
electrical
biomedical
computational
The first few years of University were general engineering courses where we learned a little about all types of engineering. I learned about computers, bridges, airplanes, and so on. Then in the last few years, I specialized in fluid mechanics which is the study of how things like air and water behave and how we can use them in engineering applications. For example, the inside of a hair dryer works in a very similar way an airplane engine!
I took some practical courses, like one where we did some material failure investigations and welded a car together (the University didn’t trust us to drive it!). And also courses on power electronics and renewable energy. There’s so much variety in engineering that choosing subjects can be quite tricky. My advice is just to go for things that sound like they are fun.
