Hi Emma! That’s a tricky question 🙂 I think my favourite part about design day to day is working in a close team of people. And my team is good fun. Every day there is a different problem to solve and I spend a lot of time simply talking to other people in my team to collectively come up with the best answer we can find. There is a lot of group discussion and we are not all located in the same place so we have to travel for meetings or use computers to communicate our ideas to each other.
The best bit about designing is getting to see what you have drawn once it has been made. It’s very rewarding. I designed a turbine blade (aeroplane engine part) last year and I was very lucky to see it being assembled in an engine last week. So.. that is something that I have drawn from ideas in the team, and then something that I can see in real life. New aeroplane engines take a number of years to design so this doesn’t happen very often. But when it does, it’s very special!

was designing a turbine blade an easy or difficult job?
