To be honest, I have always just followed the things that interest me and that path led me to engineering. I like maths and Physics at school because they showed me how the world worked and why. My natural curiosity and hunger for knowledge took me to University to study engineering where I could use those basic subjects to do even more exciting things and build new inventions. Knowing the basics helps you move on to more advanced things. Think of learning to count before you move on to adding and subtracting – it’s the same but you just keep on adding more levels!

After university I did a summer work experience placement on a building site and loved it. From there I never really looked back. I kept working really hard and moving onto new projects and 12 years on I now have my own engineering company. I love going to work still.
