• Question: What do you like about your job?

      I decide both what I want to do and how to go about it – very few jobs out there give you both of these options.

      Hi Tilda,

      I get to travel with my job and meet lots of new people – I love it.

      I used to work as a car designer, which meant I worked in an office all day, everyday, I didn’t like it as I’m not very good at sitting still! Now, I travel all over the UK and sometimes to Europe to visit different customers and factories. It’s very exciting as I get to see lots of interesting technology and talk to some very clever people.

      I like the fact that I don’t do the same thing everyday. Some days I am teaching, some days I am visiting schools, some days I am working with the robots. I do not have time to get bored.

      I like that I get to play with cool gadgets and get paid for it!

      Whether these are robots that I build myself, or just using other people’s robots to do something 🙂

      I also like that I get to spend most of my time learning about robotics and what other people have done, so that I can come up with better ideas based on what has been done before 🙂

      I get to meet lots of great people as well, like when I work on projects with other engineers, go to engineering events/talks where I meet new people with similar interests and especially when I do outreach work and meet great people like you guys with interesting questions and perspectives I’ve never thought of before 😀
