      Hi Libby,

      I have assessed about 9 Aircraft over my 14 years in engineering. I have also assessed quite a few Military IT systems as well. I am currently a specialist technical advisor (safety) to the team that looks after the UK Air Defence Capability.

      You might have heard on the news recently about Russian aircraft coming near the UK and ‘spying on us’. Well the team I work for look after the Radars, and the IT systems that identify the enemy coming near the UK, the quickly send some UK fighter jets to fly along side the Russian aircraft and politely tell them to ‘Bugger Off’.

      I help the team to look at the safety implications of software glitches in the IT display as well as the safety implications of loosing communications with the UK fighter aircraft, in the worst case you could end up crashing into the aircraft you were trying to get rid of!
