  Well my work involves making sure that military equipment is designed safely to ensure that people are not injured or killed through the use of the equipment. My work on aircraft involves assuring the safety and airworthiness of the aircraft to fly. If I do my job badly peoples lives could be put in danger (although it is rarely just one person who has a final say as to whether something is safe or not).
