There are some things that are less enjoyable, but that is always the way with any job. However, I tend to get disappointed by people who forget that engineering is about helping people.
Hmm, tough question! I wouldn’t say I was “disappointed”. In fact, most of the aspects of work life surpassed my expectations – in particular the teamwork and on-the-job learning aspects.
That said, there are some realities about working as an engineer that you need to accept and work with – namely budgets and deadlines! At the end of the day, you are using your engineering skill to produce something – and there will usually be an acceptable timescale and cost associated with this!
