I have had quite a few jobs since I was 13. My worst job was clearing tables in a restaurant. Then when I was 18 I took a year out before university, working for an engineering consultancy. I was in the flood defence design team and that is when I truly realised how much engineering achieves and how important it is. I really enjoyed modelling how flooding might occur in a town, and so where we should build defences to contain the flood.
I currently work in highways but I think longer term I will want to move back towards the flood management side of things. Especially as my home county (Somerset) has been badly impacted by flooding.
