Hi libbypop123, I’m not going to lie there are boring days. Waiting for a test to complete but having to watch it or writing up reports. But the boring days are outweight by the great days like discovering that your new product works or great customer feedback.

Yes! Lots of the time, but I think I find my work a lot less boring than most peoples. A lot of the time, like Stacey, I’m bored whilst waiting for tests to run, but that can be a good time to read something or talk to other people in the lab. Also, the good thing about a job with some practical science or engineering is that you don’t have to sit at a desk all day like a lot of people. When you’re bored, you can go to the lab and do something, when you’re bored of that, you can go back to your desk and do something else. Also, I do get to use some massive expensive equipment like electron microscopes and X-ray machines, its hard to get bored then.

I am currently writing probably the longest report I am ever going to have to write and it is taking forever! It is incredibly boring.

Some boredom can be incredibly helpful too. When I’ve got fed up of doing the same thing over and over again on my computer to process data I’ve written computer code to make a program do it for me. I’d never have done that if I wasn’t so bored.

      Of course. Nothing is perfect!!!
Sometimes when we have to test things over and over again to make sure it works it can get quite boring, however if its boring it means its working! It gets exciting when things go wrong so I know which I prefer!!

Oh yes, it can happen. Sometimes simulations can take days to run and I can’t do much more than wait. The most boring part to me it’s writing reports or preparing presentations though.
