Question: is it possible to create a plasma rifle by compressing gasses then releasing them [s0 they turn into plasma] in short bursts?

I don’t know about creating a plasma gun, bit sci fi, but we use plasma thermal metal spray for coating aircraft parts. Plasma spray is a thermal spray coating process used to produce a high quality coating by a combination of high temperature, high energy heat source, a relatively inert spraying gas, usually argon, and high particle velocities.
