Hi teapot, Undoubtedly engineers contributed to some of the factors creating climate change like designing cars, coal factories and aircraft. But that said engineers are now understanding more about the impact of engineering on the world and are contributing to tackling it. For example Geoengineers are investigating ways of reducing Carbon Dioxide in the air and the renewable energy sector is growing ( wind, air, solar).

I think engineering has the power to have a massive impact on climate change.
We will have the power to create new methods new products and new systems to make a big impact.
What we also need to do though is improve how we currently engineer things. In textiles we use a huge amount of water and so it is our responsibility to work on new dyeing methods to reduce this usage.

      Hi teapot
Engineering is a tool and it depends what we set our (collective) minds to. A lot of work on extracting and burning fossil fuels are amazing processes that run extremely efficiently with some amazing feats of engineering. Hopefully, new inventions will help with the environment and climate change and with a bit of work, the cleanest technology will also be the cheapest and safest.
