Question: why dont you just work making clothing?

Hi there
My strength is more in the development of materials for specific functions. I work better to a brief that states the properties required.
Designing and developing clothes for fashion is a very different skill, one which I don’t have! I do work with the designers to make our materials look good however for me its performance first.
I specifically chose my degree because if focused on the science and technology of making textiles rather than the design elements
