Question: do you believe in aliens

I believe there is a strong possibility of the existence of life elsewhere in the universe, probably even sentient life. But I’m not sure we’ll ever make contact with them.

I think we currently just don’t understand life or know enough about the universe to know. It kind of depends on how you define life, but there could possibly be aliens out there.

If you read “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”, you’ll see Goonhilly gets mentioned right at the beginning for failing to spot the Vogons! So now, we keep an extra special look out for them and other aliens.
They are probably out there….. but think of this…. we have been broadcasting radio signals for around 100 years. How far out into space will those signals have reached? How many stars will that cover?
There might be aliens but they’ll be difficult to find.

But seriously; I think there is every reason to suspect that life on Earth is not the only life in the universe.
We could find life close to home, like on evidence of previous life on mars. There have been some tantalising shreds of evidence recently: https://www.nasa.gov/press-release/nasa-finds-ancient-organic-material-mysterious-methane-on-mars
But we may have to go much further afield to find evidence of life. Like to other parts of the Milky Way or even to another galaxy. But there could be over 2 trillion (2,000,000,000,000) galaxies to search so finding it is difficult; plus we might not know what we’re looking for. Nevertheless I think one day we’ll find out that we are not alone.
