• Question: Do you have to wear a hair net in the work place

      Most of the time no. But if I go into the “clean room”, which is dust-free, to work, then I have to put on the clean room outfit, which does include a hair covering. It’s a bit like a shower cap. Also, shoe covers, which look particularly silly.

      In the office no.

      But when we are in the cleanrooms we have to yes:

      When we are in the optical cleanrooms we need to wear something that covers more than just our hair, the suits look like this (not a picture of the SSTL optical cleanroom):


      When we are fuelling the spacecraft with it’s Hydrazine fuel we practically need to wear spacesuits (credit to NASA for this one):
