Engineering is a team effort. It’s really like being in a fantastic sports team. We all speak the same language and have lots of jargon but we all respect that we have different skills. Every day we discuss almost every aspect of what we do in order to get the job done. Advice and assistance is two-way and we all continually learn from each other.
I’m a very good problem solver. So when I’m not busy with my design work; my fellow engineers come to me when something isn’t working to ask for help. Likewise when I have a problem and don’t understand it I will go to people who will likely know the answer straight away.
I know a fair bit of theory and maths as my background is theoretical physics, while most of the scientists here are experimental physicists so I get asked some more theoretical questions sometimes or I may code up some maths to help a problem someone is having in an experiment.
