We take signals (voice, TV, computer information) and find really clever and sophisticated ways of coding and processing them for all sorts of reasons. Most of the time we’re trying to get as much data as possible through a given amount of bandwidth. But we do other things like making GPS systems work, tracking satellites and designing antennas
