Question: when and why did you want to become a chemist

I decided to become a chemist while I was at university. Started off in physics but liked my chemistry profs more, so changed majors (which you can do fairly easily in the US). I had this brilliant prof in my first year who used to blow something up every Friday, and I wanted to do that in the lab, too!
