Question: As head of Launch systems, which factors do you think affect the progress of a project the most (for instance weather, gravity or other relevant factors).
The biggest problem with launching anything into space is the amount of energy you need to overcome Earth’s gravity. We need to accelerate a satellite to over 20 times the speed of a bullet. That means with standard chemical rocket engines, it will always cost a lot to send people or satellites into orbit. Overcoming this is the biggest challenge and inventing new ways to improve efficiency and drive down cost.
