The biggest problem with launching anything into space is the amount of energy you need to overcome Earth’s gravity. We need to accelerate a satellite to over 20 times the speed of a bullet. That means with standard chemical rocket engines, it will always cost a lot to send people or satellites into orbit. Overcoming this is the biggest challenge and inventing new ways to improve efficiency and drive down cost.
