There are satellites in geostationary orbit at 36,000 km from the earth which are use for the weather forecast. You see the images in the weather programmes on TV all the time. If you want a better resolution, you have to go in a lower orbit, which also gives the opportunity to see the entire globe. There are images from the International Space Station (orbiting at 400km from the earth) which are so great. The European Space Agency publishes amazing images of the earth almost every day! Have a look at them!
