MODIS is one of the sensors I use in my work and it stands for MODerate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer. What a mouthful, right? It means that it is:
MODerate-resolution = It can only see things bigger than 300 metres!
Imaging = It’s like a camera, it’s purpose is to create images!
Spectroradiometer = it is a camera that also records how much of each colours is on the image.
