The most common magnetic metals are iron, nickel, and cobalt. Only metal objects which contain these metals will be magnetic. A lot of coins don’t contain these metals, and so aren’t magnetic.

However, according to the Royal Mint (who make the coins) some 2p coins contain small amounts of iron, and so they are magnetic.

You should do an experiment and find lots of 2p coins, and see if you can find some of the magnetic ones!
