I really enjoy my work, I get to do experiments almost every day (though not at the moment) and that was always my favourite bit of science at school. Finding things out and having a hands on experience not just sitting at a desk all day.
Yes!
It’s incredible to work on something that will explore space. The people I work with are also brilliant. You get to work in large teams, who all know something a little different and seeing how everything comes together is wonderful.
It can also be frustrating – the computers don’t always work as well as you’d like, or the deadlines are put at a funny time and really you just want to get on and in another week you’d have something real to show.
of course! I love it, it’s not all just boring work; I run our office social committee and we have one event every month. We do a big halloween dress-up which is great fun, and also have summer and Christmas parties. The people you work with are like the people you go to school with, you become close and its natural to form meaningful relationships, we have a laugh and end of the day, as long as the work is done, there’s nothing stopping us from having a good time too.
yes, i really love my job. I didn’t quite enjoy when it was core engineering though- it felt a bit claustrophobic – but with technical project management, its a good balance of engineering and non-engineering aspects of business.
I find it a lot of fun. I am always learning new things, and it’s very satisfying to find answers.
I also get to work with lots of different people – it’s very different to school, because if you don’t know the answer, it’s just a case of finding someone else who does!
A lot of my work is done on a computer, but I work on a big power plant, so I often go out on site with my hard hat on, and see some really amazing big technology in action.

Definitely! It’s great to go aboard one of the boats that you have helped design!
(The hours you put in definitely means you have to find it fun)
