It feels great to be an engineer. I love designing and working on products that benefit other people and make other peoples’ lives easier. Each engineer is different in terms of the work they do. My work consists of designing and manufacturing temporary structures for motorsport and hospitality events. Our customers are in a very niche market and require the upmost well designed and structurally strong designs and components available on the market for them to succeed and make our company look professional and bring in more custom.

To be an engineer feels very rewarding. It can also be very demanding and challenging at times also. You get to work in teams on projects you enjoy, or you can work by yourself sometimes. You often get to travel the country or the world depending on your field you have specialised in. Just remember to work as hard as you can, and take every opportunity that is offered to you.

It feels great most of time but it can be very challenging at times. This is why you really need a passion for what you do if not, once an issue arises, you tend to just give up. When you do overcome this obstacle, you get a real sense of achievement.

It is great to know how things work by teaching yourself, work experience or from colleagues from different areas. Work can be demanding and but this comes with any other profession. The skill-set you acquire through engineering can be used in other areas and you can potentially re-invent yourself 🙂

Hi Ada,
I just answered another question about fun in engineering and I think a part of the answer I gave fits in with your question too. So here is the relevant part, because engineers also can have lots of fun in what we do
I enjoy the things that I do so much that for me simply being an engineer is FUN. Always learning, always asking questions, always something new to do and new people to meet, always a challenge and always rewarding on lots of levels and always able to help people along the way. For me that’s almost a definition of the important parts of engineering. Add in travelling round the World, from Alaska in the winter to Australia in the summer, developed countries and places where life is not so easy and lots and lots of places in between and sometimes not knowing where I might be next makes it even more FUN. Always being able to see the best in the places I’ve been and the tasks I’ve helped with has provided many FUN memories and recollections.
So engineering can also feel like fun too
