There are so many launches, I think nearly one every day somewhere in the world.
Usually these are for telecommunications satellites – so they are ones that provide TV, internet, phone, radio to different parts of the world.
There are also military satellites – they take images of Earth, similar to the images you can see on “Satellite view” on Google maps. It helps countries to understand what somewhere looks like and how things are changing. They are also used for disasters, like flooding, landslides, earthquakes – so that governments can work out where emergency services might be needed and what roads are still open to get there.

A big project that’s seeing around 1 or 2 launches a month is called Starlink, and is being done by SpaceX, a private company owned by Elon Musk (he’s the same person who owns Tesla, who builds fancy looking electric cars). Here’s some videos of the Starlink rockets being launched: (https://techcrunch.com/2020/04/22/spacex-successfully-launches-60-more-starlink-satellites-as-it-continues-towards-2020-service-debut)
The aim of Starlink is to provide satellite internet all over the world, where it’s not easy to get internet via a cable.
