• Question: Can you describe yourself in 5 words and explain how that trait effects your career?

      Hi Tulip and Zoe,

      I would describe myself as ;

      Inquisitive –
      I always want to know more about my work and I always ask questions to make sure I get the most out of my experiences.

      Passionate-
      I really love the job I do and that makes it really enjoyable to get up and go to work everyday. That enthusiasm shows in the work I do.

      Determined-
      I don’t stop until the job is done and has been done to the highest quality, that sometime means I take more time over things, but I always make sure I do my best work.

      Ambitious-
      I expect a lot from myself and I want to go a long way in my career. That means I’m always looking for opportunities to develop my skills and become a better engineer. I always remember that focusing on the job you’re doing at the moment it the most important though.

      Creative-
      I enjoy playing music with my band and I like to think that creativity comes in handy at work when we have to think up a novel solution to a problem. It also helps my team working skills by making me better at interacting with others.

      Hi Tulip,
      I would say I am PASSIONATE – it helps to achieve your goals if you love what you do, DETERMINED – no obstacles can stop me from achieving my dreams, FUN – engineering is very technical so I always try to find time to have some fun and spend time with my friends, CREATIVE – there is always a solution to a problem, you just need to try new things to solve it, CURIOUS – I always want to find out more – the best way to learn is to ask questions. 🙂

      Inquisitive (I always want to understand how things work)
      Meticulous (I have an eye for detail)
      Perfectionist (I want everything I do to be the absolute best)
      Humorous (I like a laugh and a joke)
      Teamplayer (You can’t do everything yourself)

      Some of these fit very well with engineering (Inquisitive, Meticulous, Teamplayer). Being a Perfectionist can be a hinderance because in engineering you don’t always have the time to make your design perfect because of time and cost limits (there’s actually no design that can’t be improved upon).

      The Humorous bit fits every bit of life, always try to do things with a smile on your face 🙂
