• Question: What project(s) are you currently working on?

      I am currently working with Fatigue and Damage Tolerance team where we, using mathematical calculations, trying to predict when the crack in the aircraft structure will happen – after how many flights; and how fast is it going to grow. I think that is the easiest way I can explain it. 🙂 It might not sound interesting but it is very exciting when it gets to analysing results !! which we use to advice our customers when to service particular area of the wing – so very important job in terms of passangers safety 🙂

      I’m currently 3D printing a prosthetic hand for demonstrating some of the amazing things that 3D printing can do. It’s the third one I’ve printed and I’m a volunteer for the charitable organisation that came up with the design. You can see the great work that e-NABLE do on their website http://www.enablingthefuture.org

      I’m on their “Matching Programme”, so anyone who needs one of these prosthetics can be put in touch with me.

      This is the type of project that I’m really “in” to, where 3D printing is used to improve someone’s life.

      In my job I’m expected to manage a range of different different projects simultaneously, some are short, some are longer and making them all fit together so that I have the right amount of time to spend on each can be a bit of a juggling act!

      At the moment I’m working on things such as;
      1) Analysing the potential failures and effects of a new compressor component.
      2) Analysing the risk posed by 2 parts which don’t meet their safety requirements.
      3) Developing a new method to predict emerging reliability problems.
      4) Finally supporting our team to get ready to move to a snazzy new office space, lots of de cluttering and shredding!

      That’s enough to keep me busy anyway!

      I’m currently working on the Woo Building of the Royal College of Art in Battersea, London. It is an £8million extension onto one of their existing buildings. This is very nearly finished so in a couple of weeks I will be moving to Battersea Place, a £37million retirement village 🙂
