I’m not really sure – but I bet it was built of Lego. It’s usually one of the first things that you use in an engineering way to create things.

Most engineers fell in love with Lego when they were young and it’s a great testament that all these year’s later it’s still a very popular means of innovating and creating. The Mindstorms robotic stuff that they do now is incredible.

My earliest memories of building things were in Duplo (Big Lego, for small hands). I used it to build giant roller coaster train sets which always ended with the train crashing into the wall.

I obviously had an interest in destructive testing from a young age!

Same as Huw, I use a lot of Lego! I would still play if I have any at home 😉
I also liked stripping toys apart and connecting two or more together – maybe it wasn’t the best creation of mine but it felt like it was because I did it myself! 🙂

It’s weird that we all have the same answer… I was going to say Lego too…. Nobody mentioned K’Nex though! That was very much a big thing for me as well!

After lego and in school I was very much entertained by woodwork projects, I’d say my first “creation” was this weird shape storage unit I had to make for DT. 😛
