• Question: Who has been your inspiration, or did you not have any?

      I always looked up to my dad who was a car mechanic 🙂 Spending time with him encouraged me to be curious and question how things work and how they can be imporved. I think that helped me realise that engineering is what I want to do but also I had lovely and inspirational maths and physics teachers who encourage my education! I must say I was very lucky to have that:) But it took me a long time (up until I was 21) to know for sure that engineering is my future. Also I was growing up in times when we didn’t have computers so acces to knowledge was very limited.
      Don’t get too stressed out if you still don’t know what you want to be in the future – I am sure one day you will find it – keep exploring:)

      My Dad was an engineer so I suppose engineering is in my blood. Visiting the factory where my Dad worked was my first experience of what engineering was all about.

      The other inspiration was Sir William Lyons – he founded Jaguar Cars and with a talented group of engineers came up with fantastic car designs that were way ahead of their time. I loved those cars and wanting to follow in their footsteps is what really got me hooked and, I’m pleased to say, what got me my apprenticeship opportunity with Jaguar.

      I think my dad probably gave me the bug, I spent a lot of time with him learning how to take apart and fix motorbikes and that really gave me a passion for machines and anything that goes fast!

      I also had some really inspirational teachers for both Physics and DT who encouraged me to do more and go further than just what they taught me at school. I came across engineering whilst wondering what I could do with Maths and Physics as a Career, it combines those with the practical aspects I was looking for and learned whilst fixing oily old bikes. So Engineering was the only choice for me 🙂

      I didn’t really ever have one because my biggest inspiration is the thought of my own future… Where I could be in 10 years or so if I really work hard. That is my biggest motivation 😀
