Hopefully by changing people’s life. I really hope that what I make has an impact on someone’s life and everything is a little bit easier for that person.
The work that I’m involved in will hopefully change the way we test a wide range of things like cosmetics, drugs, compounds, but reducing the need for animal testing.
A living 3D tissue model that represents distinct types of human tissues (which is the most important thing, as animal models don’t necessarily represent the way we would react either) is a well needed advancement in science.
I’ll be able to understand the biomechanical differences between flat and high arched foot types and hopefully this will lead to better designed footwear products or surgical interventions maybe 5-10 years from now. The idea here being that I can simulate the effects of different treatments on an individual and determine what might be the best outcome.
That is the hope for all engineers and scientists! In research we publish our results so that all other scientists and engineers can see and be influenced by our work .
My current project is trying to show a different direction that could be used within kidney tissue engineering, which will hopefully have an effect with how other think within the field.
I think they will shape the way people currently live and currently manage their health. If, some parts of my creations are not evolved enough to reach that stage, I hope other researchers and other engineers will use my findings trying to seek to change the future.
I hope that our team’s creations will change a number of things. Most importantly I hope they will mean that patients will experience less painful surgeries, spend less time in hospital so they can get back to normal, surgeries will be quicker, and treatments will cost less money.
