I’m the lead mechanical asset engineer – we have lots of different mechanical equipment on our site. The site makes plastics for cars and it is my job to ensure the mechanical equipment stays online and works as it should! I also look after future proofing the site by suggesting new projects that might make the site work better.
-
My Typical Day: I get to work at 7.15am, I look to see if all the mechanical equipment is still working and if it is I go through my project list for improvement work!

I get to work at 7.15am, I look to see if all the mechanical equipment is still working and if it is I go through my project list for improvement work! I’m often looking to see what we might have to do to keep the plant online, whether that be fixing plant equipment or installing new stuff!
I am part of a team of 7 and we work together to keep everything ticking over as it should on site. Some of the team look after the electrical stuff, some look after the chemical processes and others look after the people who operate the equipment. We have a lot of fun but we also work really hard and sometimes we work very long days! -

We work with aan organisation called “primary engineer” which works with primary schools to host engineering projects for kids who have an interest in STEM. I would put the money towards paying for a local primary school to run these projects.
