Turns out the “pop” you get from exploding hydrogen is a reasonable test – so long as there isn’t too much of it. It also doesn’t affect litmus paper (does not form H+ or OH- ions), and doesn’t smell.
There is a website – “typesofengineeringdegrees.org” that lists 30, but it’s probably higher, depending how you count. So much of what you use has been made or designed by an engineer – we get everywhere… Whatever your interests, there is probaba;y something to do with it.
