Hi,
I think for me the mental challenges are really rewarding, working with great people on interesting projects. I’ve been able to travel quite a bit – it would have been easy to move around the world with my work. I’ll admit as well, the money can be quite useful too.
The best part of my job (and the reason I enjoy it so much) is the sheer amount of variety in the things I do. For instance, today I have meetings with two project students, an IAEGMOOH live chat, a lecture to give on programming techniques, a lecture to give on embedded applications (focusing on methods to build a quadcopter and quadcopter test rig), and a programming lab session.
And somewhere in all this I still have to finish writing two lectures for tomorrow 🙂
I love my job because I get to push at the limits of mankind’s understanding in a field I think is really interesting and important to our futures. Knowing that I’m partly responsible for products and systems that make people’s lives easier every day is also a great feeling!
