I leave near Cambridge with my wife and our 3 daughters. I am originally from France but have worked in mostly Ireland and the UK. We have been in the UK 13 years and near Cambridge 11 years.

When I am not at work, I like to spend time with family and friends, I like sailing, skiing, video games, good food, going places.

My work is about medical devices, equipment doctors use to diagnose health problems and cure them. It always amazes me the technology that goes into medical engineering these days. I have been in medical the last four years but before that I have worked in many other industries for around 15 years…

My employer works on behalf of clients, we design things for them, not ourselves. We do pretty cutting edge technical stuff, not only in medical but this is where I specialise

I can’t really give details about what I am working on, most things we do are the next generation product for our clients, in some case their first products, so they prefer to keep things quiet.

The role I do the most is taking the technical lead on project, this means I have to coordinate what all the people on the team do to make sure we are developing the right thing, This takes quite a few meetings, writing some documents, reviewing documents others have written, negotiating with clients and colleagues to make sure we settle on the right solution for what we need to achieve, sometimes having to not please everybody to make sure we make progress

The country, the world need more engineers, everybody agrees with this. It starts by making sure students get excited about the subject and there is no better way to do that than to help students as early as primary school figure out that engineering is one of the most fun careers out there if you like maths and science. Kits and things like Knex can help school teachers create exciting activities for their students so that they can discover what engineering is about and grow to like it, and hopefully pick it as what they want to do later on.
