      I am building a new imaging system to look at the chemical and mechanical properties of tissue. I’m using cells now, but later I’ll use actual tissue. When someone has a disease like cancer the chemical make-up of the tissue changes – the amount of fat, collagen etc change. It also affects the mechanical properties of tissue so we can use this to check if it is cancer and how far along it is. So I’m building a way of imaging where we can look at all of these things, and we can look at things like how well a drug is working.
