In Primary 6 (year 6) I had a great teacher who gave the whole class different science projects – my groups’ was to build an electronically controlled moving crane from Meccano! I absolutely loved it and have been interested in science ever since. I had really great teachers in high school as well – my Chemistry teacher looked exactly like Einstein and happily blew holes in the ceiling!
I was fascinated with K’nex and would build things all the time – cars, rollercoasters, ferris wheels… Then my dad taught me how to use some tools and I started making go-karts out of scrap wood to ride down the hill in my neighbourhood. After a few runs I started making brakes too. I
I figured it would help to be good at science if I wanted to keep building things, so I just started studying hard and kinda found out that I enjoyed it too.
When I was 12 I think, I got into sailing, from there I started wondering about all things flowing so went on to study fluid dynamics at Uni, I still do some today…
