• Question: what don't you like about engineering

      Paperwork! And that extra bracket or comma that’s missing in code that means it doesn’t run – it can take hours to find it and fix it sometimes!

      This is a very good question…
      Like Dawn, I also don’t like paperwork- e.g. you have to do health & safety paperwork when using new equipment or chemicals, and it’s not the most exciting thing in the world.

      Sometimes, I might stay a bit longer after work official closing time to finish off an experiment. But this is because I’m passionate about the things I design, and want to see them in action sooner!

      Also, when you tell people you’re an engineer, a lot of people think of this:

      That people often don’t understand what we do and that some people call themselves engineers when they are not.

      Agreed with the others – paperwork is really boring to do and takes soooo long. It’s the worst.

      The other thing is this idea that engineers are really antisocial and don’t like talking to people. It’s true in a few cases, but I’d say most engineers are normal people too!
