If you know what sector you want to go into, you should research the companies working in this field and then ask them if they do apprenticeships. They would usually have partnered up with one or several colleges and you might have to go through those to get a place. There are career fairs that will have an apprenticeship zone, like the Skills Show in Birmingham next week.
Speaking to employers that run them and people already doing an apprenticeship will also be great – they can give you tips on how to get in and what to expect 🙂
I have a list of industries where I would like to do apprenticeship – Siemens, Zeiss, Philips and so on. they are all actively involved making imaging equipments for various body parts and it would be cool to observe the hardware part now that I know a bit about the software part
I’d ask your teacher. There is probably someone at your school (assuming you’re in secondary school) who’s job it is to look at career possibilities. He or she should have a good idea about what local companies offer good apprenticeships. You don’t have to take one of the ones that they suggest, but you could have a look at a couple with your parents. It will give you an idea about what an apprenticeship would be like and/or what kind of job you think you’d prefer.
