1. Get a good team together with the right skills needed to complete the project.
2. Look at past similar projects, see where they did things well and where they went wrong and learn from that.
3. Good planning before you start actually doing anything.

Seeing whats out there already – no point re-inventing the wheel!
and then carefully understanding what you need to do, sometimes what you think you need to do is different from what someone else does…!
1) Background research – no point in re-inventing the wheel!
2) Good team – where each member brings different personal qualities, as well as expertise
3) Enthusiasm – we should enjoy the process
Projects fail if they are not planned properly. I was taught to close my eyes, imagine the end goal or product, and then work backwards, step by step, imagining all the things that I would have to do to achieve the goal. Only after doing that, should I sit down and start to write the plan. It sounds the wrong way around, but it is very effective.
