I’m not sure if inspired would be the right word but informed is probably better. My electronics teacher told me what an engineer is and it all went from there!

As for actual inspiration, I am inspired by Isambard Kingdom Brunel who was an engineer in the 1800’s and built some really cool things!

There was no one person that inspired me. I was always good at Maths and Science and was doing Maths and Physics A-Levels, but thought the theoretical side alone was a bit boring. A family friend once suggested that I may find engineering more to my liking when I was around 17 so I started researching more about the different disciplines and courses then.

It was my previous research supervisor! He is an amazing character. It was him who transformed me from a chemist to an engineer. He is an electrical engineer and I started to work with him after my BSc. Since then I wanted to work on electrical devices as he did.

No one in particular. I was introduced to the subject by my guidance teacher at school and really looked up to a number of researchers that I worked with at university.

I did internships over the summers during my degree during which I met lots of really interesting people and learned more about what engineering involved.
