I am from Algeria, I came to the UK in 2019 as an international student to do my master’s degree (Electronic and electrical engineering) at the University of Portsmouth. I am currently working in UKAEA as a graduate electrical engineer.
After a very stressful two years of studying and applying for graduate positions, I finally started exploring my hobbies and interests, I usually spend my evenings with my friends in discords, playing and trying different video games. I also like to read different types of mangas, novels, and watching TV.

I am a graduate electrical engineer.
My time is divided into 80% electrical work, and 20% graduate time.
One of my tasks as an electrical engineer is working on electrical schematics, using electrical software to design an electrical circuit for a project, thinking about what components to use, the voltage, and current needed to power those components, and how many cables or wires we need.
I am also responsible for the cable management system of the project I am working on, meaning, using the appropriate cable restrains, routes…etc, to make sure that the system is electrically safe to use.
For the graduate time, there is different tasks and responsibilities you can take, such as the representative of the graduate scheme of your year, making sure the needs of the group are met, organise event..etc.
Social secretary (my job), organise social events, examples of what I did is:
virtual game nights, playing Among us, Gartic phone…etc
Paintball and board game Tuesdays
You can also use the graduate time to apply to courses that you are interested in, which will help you improve your professional knowledge, in my case was a cable management course with the IET, and learning some programming course called RoS.

My Typical Day: I get to work around 8 am, I start by viewing my to-do list for the day, I like to start with small tasks, then have a coffee and a snack, depending on how much sleep I got the night before. I do some electrical work in the morning. Then I have lunch with my coworkers. In the afternoon, I either do some graduate work or continue working on my project. I finish work around 4:30.

I get to work around 8 am, I start by viewing my to-do list for the day, I like to start with small tasks to build up the momentum and then move to more complicated tasks, I prioritize work based on how urgent and important it is. Then have a coffee and a snack, depending on how much sleep I got the night before.
I usually spend the morning doing electrical work, attending meetings… etc,
Then I have lunch with my coworkers and then go to the contemplation room to pray my daily prayers.
In the afternoon, I either do some graduate work or continue working on my project. While taking a break and a snack (very important for me!).
Before finishing work, I make a to-do list for tomorrow and note down everything I did for the day to keep track of my progress, I usually finish work around 4:30,
