      Global Switch is a company that owns data centres in Europe and Asia. We rent out space to companies who put their servers (lots of small computers) help them run their businesses.

      For the servers to work, we need to provide power (electricity) and also keep the servers cool. I have to make sure that the equipment that provides electricity and cooling is replaced when it gets old so it doesn’t break down and the servers go off.

    • My Typical Day: I have calls with people in different countries to talk about their equipment and plans for replacing them. I use maths to calculate how much it will cost and when they will have to pay to replace old equipment. I also use maths and science to calculate how much electricity and cooling they will need so we can choose the right equipment
