Question: How do you conduct experiments without hurting people?

Hello, well plenty of experiments don’t create any risk, but for those that do, we have a sort of code of conduct:
– everything possible must be done to ensure my colleagues (and me!) are safe – we must have the right equipment for the job, and we always have the right to say ‘no’ if we feel there is any remaining risk, or a safer way to do something.
– any job that is regularly needs to have an SOP – or ‘standard operating procedure’ that is regularly refined and improved
– any job that is not done regularly needs a ‘risk assessment’ by experts, who will try to imagine all the things that could go wrong and either block them, or work around them in a way that removes risks to people

I spend a lot of time trying to imagine what can go wrong, safety is the #1 priority in everything I do!
