Question: how hard is it to work in your chosen area because I would like to work in the RAF with the different materials on the fighter jets and helicopters. I like to get my hands on things and be creative. have you got any interesting materials that are easy to work with?

  Hi Bryn,
  The world of materials is pretty easy to get into I would say – it is really only for people who love science and ‘creation’.
  
  One area that is interesting now in my world is 3d printing, the idea you could model something in a computer then click ‘make’ is pretty cool! Right now there are limitations – the plastic is weak – but we have laser-sinter technology for metals and there are also ceramic options – soon we will perhaps have ‘replicators’ like in Star Trek 😉
