It can be at times – like all jobs! But a bit of stress is usually a good thing, it means you’re doing something you care about. Usually engineering is stressful when you’re running up to a deadline and something has to be built, written or presented. I would say compared to other jobs there’s a really good balance between stress and fun.

Not generally, i work in a pretty relaxed office. When things go wrong though, or deadlines loom it can get a bit stressful, but never for very long. You just have to find a solution and keep moving forward!

Sometimes it is, sometimes it is not.
Like last Wednesday, we had an emergency situation. We need to stop the emergency situation and then find out why it’d happened and monitor if the fix actually works. This was pretty stressful but at the same time quite satisfying experience. Without problems and issues, life will be so dull!

I found out a little while ago that the source of most of my stress was promising things I could not gaurantee. Now my work is going better, and the stress is mainly about being away from my family a bit too much. Life turns out to involve a lot of compromises – on the flip-side my job also allows me a lot more freedom to be with my family when I am not travelling that most people envy…

You can’t win ’em all – but you can just keep playing 😉
