Hey EJ, I am not totally sure what you are after exactly – but if you are asking whether I want a ‘job’ or a ‘career’, it is for sure a career.
A career is your whole work-life, but not everyone has a career – it’s only a career if it builds upon itself and has some sort of direction.
I would always prefer a job that develops my career – teaches me something I will need later, or helps me meet the people I will need in order to achieve the things I want to achieve.
My career is designed (so far) to allow me to have a bigger impact on the world – to be able to make a bigger difference to how efficiently and sustainably we make all the stuff humans need to live – so if a prospective employer asks me what I want to do – that is what I will say!
I agree with Jarrod. A career is long term, it sets you up for life. The company you work for invests in your development, it’s a benefit to them that you get better at what you do but also gain experience and knowledge to be able to do more.
Ooo interesting question! I would deffo say a career. I don’t just want to do something that pays the bills, I want to build my skills and experience so I can keep working on new things – especially as the world of tech is changing so fast!
